Transporting crude oil has always presented unique fluid-handling challenges. For example, pipelines often traverse remote territory in harsh environments, which is why they require pumping solutions capable of performing reliably over many years with minimal maintenance.  Variations in temperature and crude oil grades, as well as contaminants such as sand or water, can increase the range of viscosities a pipeline must be able to accommodate. Additionally, the demand for increased energy efficiency… (to continue reading go to the following link)

Two-screw positive displacement pumps provide performance solutions for many chemical batch processing applications that cannot be achieved through the use of more common centrifugal pump technology. Frequently, two-screw pumps are a “last resort” because they can be a higher investment cost than centrifugal technology and are less known – but these factors should not be an engineer’s only criteria for evaluation.  wo-screw pumps should be considered in any application where the process may involve variations in flow, temperature, pressure, liquid characteristics or viscosity. Two-screw performance excels in chemical process and transfer applications that experience one or more of these variations, as well… (to read more open the attached White Paper)

The Right Pump Lowers Total Cost of Ownership http://www.pumppower.com.au/the-right-pump-lowers-total-cost-of-ownership/ Fri, 09 Jun 2017 00:14:03 +0000 http://www.pumppower.com.au/?p=1805 The post The Right Pump Lowers Total Cost of Ownership appeared first on Seal Pumps and Valves.

In mechanical engineering, like in other fields, the total cost of owning and operating a pump unit or installation is the focus of increased attention. When considering the purchase of a pump unit, customers consider not only the initial cost of investment, but also life cycle costs (i.e., operational costs like those related to energy, downtime, maintenance and spare parts). All of these items together are referred to as the total cost of ownership (TCO). Certain types of pumps and, therefore, specific pumping principles are most ideally suited to minimizing total cost of ownership for particular pumped liquids and pumping processes. Having the proper dimensions is also of critical importance. In each case the objective is to achieve a pumping process with the lowest possible TCO… (to continue reading, follow this link)
